The sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild _ is coming up soon, scheduled to arrive in May 2023, and Zeldatearshub`s blog since Tears of the Kingdom _ takes place in the same world as BOTW , it is natural to contemplate which characters will be making return appearances. In addition to colorful background characters such as the local business tycoon Beedle, there are many faces familiar to the Hyrule Kingdom that players can expect to see in this upcoming adventure. Some may be obvious, while others will undoubtedly surprise players.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is still being called BOTW 2 __ by many fans as it is set to take place following the adventures of Breath of the Wild in that same open world that players explored previously. It appears as though Ganon has risen again from beneath the castle to unleash a terrible darkness over Hyrule. Not much else has been revealed beyond the three trailers Nintendo has released, which leaves room for much speculation. Here are some of the most likely candidates for returning characters to Tears of the Kingdom .

Naturally, Link & Zelda Will Return In Tears Of The Kingdom

Link and Zelda are obvious must-haves that possibly do not even deserve a spot on the list. Not only are Link and Zelda both shown in the trailers for Tears of the Kingdom , but they are also the main characters in the series. However, it is still quite possible that their roles could see some changes from the norm in this new story. Mainly because Zelda won't actually be a princess this time around, and it will be interesting to see if Nintendo leans into that change in Hyrule's leadership and what ripple effects that could create.

Will BOTW's Impa Be Returning Despite Her Age?

Impa has been a steadily returning character throughout much of The Legend of Zelda , although in Breath of the Wild she was 120 years old. She played an essential role in BOTW by assisting Link in recovering his lost memories and telling him the story of Ganon. Over the years, she has been an important character as a bodyguard to Princess Zelda and even fought valiantly alongside Link in the events of Hyrule Warriors . If Purah's research could be used on Impa, she could in fact prove to be a very powerful character in Tears of the Kingdom .

Purah's Research Could Change The Future Of The Legend Of Zelda

Purah was certainly wise beyond her perceived years in BOTW . This is, of course, because she was not actually a child but rather 124 years old. However, Purah and Impa could change BOTW 2 through Purah's researched anti-aging abilities. Despite her being a child in BOTW , she is actually Impa's older sister and a scientist - director of the Hateno Ancient Tech Lab where she studies Sheikah technology. Her aging experiments did not become a major focus in BOTW , but should Nintendo choose to, her research could yet be an important plot point in Tears of the Kingdom .

Sidon's Connection With Link In BOTW May Bring Further Loyalty

Prince Sidon is the prince of Zora, the son of King Dorephan, and Mipha's brother. He not only assisted Link in taking down a Divine Beast that was threatening Zora's Domain in BOTW , but also was a good friend to the Hylian hero and shared an emotional bond, in part because of Mipha. Sidon heavily grieves his sister's death and can be caught speaking to her statue, wishing she were there. The quests surrounding the Zora in BOTW focus heavily on her, and Link's adventure log reveals his feelings for Mipha , though fans had to sift through the Japanese version to get the bigger picture of this. Contemplating the events that may happen in Tears of the Kingdom it is easy to assume that Prince (or perhaps even King by this time) Sidon will join Link for at least a portion of the trials which he will face in this next chapter.

Riju Could Have More To Do With Ganon's Tale In TOTK

Lady Riju is the Chief of the Gerudo who had a lot of doubts about being able to lead at such a young age, until Link showed up. Link calming the Diving Beast Vah Naboris helped her overcome her doubts, as she felt his arrival was a sign that Lady Urbosa was looking out for her. Despite his being a man, the Gerudo are true friends to Link. It is left to be seen whether the fact that Ganondorf is always Gerudo in Zelda will bring this group, with Riju at its lead, to the forefront in Tears of the Kingdom.

Kass's Songs Are Already Iconic In BOTW

The bard, Kass, may not have been a great warrior helping Link defeat the Divine Beasts and Ganon himself, but Kass has earned his place in BOTW history with his songs recounting the tales of the Hero of Hyrule. Not only did he provide Link with Shrine quests, but he also taught Link, and the player, a good deal of history and lore in moving and meaningful ways. Tears of the Kingdom just wouldn't feel right without this minstrel's songs.

Young Yunobo May Even Be Grown Up In Tears Of The Kingdom

Yunobo was a powerful Goron youth in BOTW and perhaps by the time TOTK makes its debut, he will have become an adult. Without knowing exactly how much time is between Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom , it is hard to say precisely. However, this young Goron Champion, Yunobo, could be a powerful companion and friend to Link as he is already known to possess strong powers. As a descendant of the Goron Champion, Daruk, he has the ability of Daruk's Protection, although he still found himself in situations in BOTW where Link had to come to his aid. Now that Yunobo has found his bravery, and perhaps some more wisdom with age, he could be much more useful to Link in the battles ahead.

So many fantastic characters cross paths with Link in The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom armor guide: Breath of the Wild . _ With _Tears of the Kingdom following the same locations, but with some new ones added, it is easy to presume that many of these friends of the Hero will return. Whether they play small roles or end up assisting Link and Zelda Tears of the Kingdom shrines in saving Hyrule, it will always be nice to see a friendly face return.
